Why Emicasa…
I grew up in a family environment where art had its place and where we liked to rub shoulders with it! I bathed in museums of different backgrounds, art books, and also often wandered into my aunt’s tapestry workshop to touch fabrics, and to observe her in creating curtains …
Expatriated for several years, I developed my capacity to take from various cultures, which gives depth to my work. Two of my strongest cultures are Scottish and English embracing these has given me the freedom to play with colors, to mix styles, which makes places unique.
During my studies in Scotland, I attended drawing classes at the Edinburgh College of Art. This period allowed me to discover what makes me who I am today: create with my hands, match colors, play with space and I want to share it all with you!
In Paris I was trained at the famous “Ecole Boulle” educated in interior decoration including colour harmonies, design of space and art history, it all fascinated me. My first job was being part of an Interior design and architectural team where I learnt to harmonise materials and colours to create a chemistry between a place and its owner.
I continued the discovery of other cultures including Spain. It was there that I set up a company working with overseas real estate investors offering them a service including, interior decoration, facilitating their move and saving them time and money. Even today I chose to exploit the Spanish culture tones and influences that I love in the interiors of my clients homes.
Married to a Scot, I am also very sensitive to Anglo-Saxon interiors with their pronounced taste for highly sought after colours, unusual and “cosy” associations: A perfect and exciting combination!
Four years ago life led us to Valbonne. I started major projects of renovating abandoned houses sadly discarded to one side in this superb area of the south of France. Being originally from Provence it has brought me back to my roots and it is now that I have realised I have always been attached to its picturesque landscapes that inspire me today. My love of this region brought me to create Emicasa Interiors in order to give Provence, the uniqueness it holds whilst preserving its authenticity.
Emicasa interiors is a combination of Provence and Anglo-Saxon inspiration. The desire to bring nature into the interiors with its magnificent materials like stone, wood, natural light giving a ” Home Sweet Home” feel for my clients.
That’s what inspires me!
