The mas had potential and a lot of years to make up. The exposed stones were there, the beams held, but the 1970s partitions had carved the upper floor into narrow corridors and blind bedrooms. The renovation reopened the space under the owners' general contractor.
Our role started at the material selection. Old reclaimed terracotta floors laid back in the living space, pale stone slabs on the upper floor, oiled oak parquet in the main bedrooms. Walls were redone in lime in an off-white, beams treated with natural oil to revive them without varnishing.
Openings were widened on the south façade to open the living space onto the olive grove. Three pocket-door bay windows replaced the old small-pane windows. The natural-wood shutters were kept and rehung on matt-black metalwork.
Furniture was composed over eighteen months in parallel with the worksite. Washed-linen sofas, rattan armchairs, monastery oak tables, Biot blown-glass lighting. No new catalogue object, many antique pieces reworked by our artisan network.
