La Bergerie

The sheepfold had been structurally restored ten years before our arrival. The building stood, the volumes read clearly, but the interior decoration drifted between a tired Provence-pastiche and incoherent catalogue purchases. The brief was clear: give back character without overloading.

We kept the existing structure and worked on three axes. The walls, lime-rendered in a broken linden tone that warms the exposed stone without drowning it. The floors, kept as is after sanding and oiling. The openings, redrawn with washed linen sheers that soften the back-light without blocking the view.

The furniture was composed piece by piece. A four-metre raw-linen sofa, two antique armchairs reupholstered by our partner workshop, a monastery table in oiled oak, a matt-black metalwork buffet. No piece fights another for the light.

The kitchen was rethought around a central island with an oiled-oak run and a pale-stone worktop. The garden furniture was chosen at the same time as the living room to hold the visual continuity between the two rooms, which read into each other the moment the bay doors open.
