Furnishing for a few weeks a year
The first principle is ease of use. On arrival you want to drop your bags and live, not spend two days bringing the house back to life. We favour materials that mind neither dust nor time, washable covers, floors that are simple to maintain, and household linen that stores and comes back out without effort.
The second principle is durability. A house closed for months takes the heat, winter damp, sometimes salt air near the sea. We choose stable woods, fabrics that take the sun, finishes that age rather than degrade. A few solid, handsome pieces beat fragile furnishing you replace every three years.
The question of distance
When you live in Stockholm, Oslo or London, managing a fit-out in Valbonne or Mougins from afar can feel complicated. That is exactly where the atelier helps. We work from 2D and 3D plans so you approve the project without travelling, and we are on the ground to receive deliveries, oversee the decorative setup and coordinate the trades with your architect.
In practice you decide from home, on realistic images, and you arrive to a finished house. The distance, far from being an obstacle, becomes manageable once someone you trust makes the link on site. We work in French and English, and most of the exchange happens by message and video call.
Letting between stays
Many owners let their second home when they are not using it. That shifts a few choices. You need an interior with broad appeal that is not impersonal, closed storage for private things, and materials that take use by others. An extra set of linen, simple and complete crockery, a corner that photographs well for the listing.
